Shiba Inu launched a canonical Solana version via the Sunrise gateway on Oct 4, with about $514,000 in early liquidity and trading across nine apps.

Shiba Inu arrived on Solana on Oct 4 through Sunrise, a gateway that issues a single approved version of outside assets for use across Solana markets. The Solana account announced the listing, which gives the Ethereum-based token a canonical form that holders can trade without leaving the Solana network. U.Today reported the launch on Oct 4 and stressed that the move is an expansion, not a migration.
"One of the largest communities in crypto," is how Solana described Shiba Inu in the announcement, adding that the project has grown past its roots as a dog-themed meme coin. The original SHIB stays an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, and the layer-2 network Shibarium is not moving to Solana, as reported at launch. Sunrise only adds a Solana representation that markets there can price and settle.
Sunrise exists to stop the clutter that follows most cross-chain arrivals. Without an approved version, several unofficial copies of one ticker can circulate and split liquidity, so the gateway works with issuers to bless one mint and seed pools around it. Powered by Wormhole Labs, the system handles creation or recognition of the canonical token, sets up liquidity and plugs the asset into wallets, exchanges and aggregators, U.Today explained.
The debut was fast and easy to measure. SHIB went live at 16:05 UTC on Oct 4, and within 22 minutes it had logged 3,005 trades worth about $300,000, with pools holding some $514,000 in liquidity. AltcoinBuzz drew those figures from Solana Compass data, which counted 1,401 wallets trading by 16:27 UTC. Two earlier five-minute windows had printed 2,496 and 2,075 trades.
About 1,500 wallets held the Solana version at 16:25 UTC, when pool liquidity sat near $514,000. Those are snapshots from a market less than half an hour old, and the write-up cautions that the brief contains no later holder or volume numbers. A visible start, in other words, does not yet prove durable use.
Distribution was wide from the first minutes. SHIB opened for trading through Fomo, DFlow, Titan, Phantom, Jupiter, Raydium, Archer, Kamino Swap and Mayan, nine venues in total, according to the same write-up. Raydium pool accounts rank among the 50 largest holders of the Solana version on Solana Compass, a sign that much of the early float sat in market-making pools rather than in private wallets.
The mint address is the detail that matters for buyers. Sunrise published shib5gSoVKPjwkXrxRk7SbQFzb2R9rQB3TgQWYX4RwW as the canonical SHIB on Solana, a mint created on Oct 3, one day before listing. Canonical here means the gateway recognizes one official version, not that it is the only token using the ticker. A search on Oct 4 surfaced seven other Solana tokens trading as SHIB, including an older wrapped form, the outlet found.
Sunrise has run this playbook before. The gateway launched in November 2025 with Monad's MON as its first major listing, then added Dogecoin in September through Sunrise and Wormhole NTT. PEPE followed on Sept 18, with Solana posting that the Ethereum meme coin was reachable across its apps via the same route. CoinTurk confirmed the sequence and said SHIB continues a trend of Ethereum-native tokens landing on Solana.
Which bridge carried this SHIB version stays unconfirmed. Sunrise has used Wormhole NTT and Chainlink CCIP for other assets, but its listing posts did not name the route for SHIB, according to the AltcoinBuzz review. Past labels do not settle the current case, and neither Sunrise nor Solana has published the path.
Price barely moved on the news. SHIB hovered near $0.0000057 on Oct 4 and into Oct 5, a muted response that both U.Today and CoinTurk recorded despite the wider reach. CoinTurk wrote that the integration still widens on-chain trading choices for holders even without an immediate repricing.
Developer uptake is the open question. Nine venues offering the token is not the same as developers building Solana-based Shiba Inu projects, and the AltcoinBuzz analysis says it found no verified evidence of new integrations or native development tied to the listing. Solana's post spoke of SHIB expanding from one dog token into a larger system with its own network and exchange, but no supporting build data accompanied the claim.
For holders, the practical guidance is narrow. Check the mint address before buying, since a matching ticker alone does not make a token the canonical version. Watch whether liquidity and holder counts hold after the launch snapshot fades, because the only verified figures so far cover the first 22 minutes of trading.
