Founded in 2021, the 500-person event takes over a sprawling venue in Maryland every June.

The common thread among Vibecampers is being high in openness-to-experience and kind to strangers.
Attendees primarily come from a loose network of internet-adjacent communities: rationalists and post-rationalists, EAs, burners, tech folks of various stripes, along with writers, artists, therapists, lurkers, and various offline friends.
You’ll be competing with the guy who comes dressed as a penguin handing out cans of sardines, and no fewer than four people who play theremins.
The Discord is the easiest way in — lurk, ask questions, or just show up ready to make friends.

When I'm in a "normal" social environment, I find people very approachable. But, if I do, ~85% of the time I'm quickly bored. Vibecamp flips that around. People are flying their freak flags, and can seem less approachable. But when I did apprroach, ~85% of the time it was great, often with a solid connection.

I'm impressed so far with Vibecamp; it really has successfully cultivated a nice vibe. Its not a public park, party, or amusement park. And its not a conference. It is somewhere nicely chill between.
