About the role

R iot is seeking a Data Center Asset Manager to join our Central Operations team. In this role, you will own the end-to-end strategy and process for how physical assets - from critical power and cooling infrastructure to IT and networking equipment - are tracked, assessed, and managed across Riot's data center portfolio. You will build the Asset Management strategy and the operational process that sits under it, own the CMMS platform as the system of record for asset data, and lead site-level asset gap assessments and remediation as they arise across the portfolio.

You will lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and criticality assessments across key asset classes, using the results to define Riot's Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) program strategy - the framework for what preventive and predictive tasks get performed, and at what intervals, before that strategy is operationalized by site teams.

This position is remote/hybrid, with regular travel to our Riot sites to support site assessments, audits, and coordination with site teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • D evelop and own the Asset Management strategy - the fleet-wide approach to how physical data center assets are tracked, assessed, valued, maintained and managed through their lifecycle.
  • Develop the Asset Management process that operationalizes the strategy: asset onboarding, tagging and classification standards, transfers, audits, and decommissioning.
  • Own the data integrity in the CMMS platform as the system of record for asset data - configuration, asset registers, reporting, and data integrity standards; partner with IT/platform teams where the CMMS integrates with DCIM, ServiceNow, or other systems of record.
  • Lead site-level asset gap assessments and remediation as needed across the portfolio - validating inventories, resolving missing or incomplete asset data, and standing up accurate, audit-ready asset registers.
  • Identify dominant failure modes, risk, and maintenance-relevant failure data across key asset classes through Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and criticality analysis, partnering with Engineering to resolve identified failure modes into the technical basis for maintenance strategy.
  • Apply FMEA and criticality outputs to define and continuously refine Riot's Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) program strategy - the basis for PM task selection, intervals, and prioritization across the fleet.
  • Reconcile client-provided scopes of work and contractual asset coverage expectations against OEM manufacturer operating manuals and suggested maintenance intervals, and incorporate into Riot's maintenance strategy.
  • Develop the spares strategy - what spares are needed, stocking levels, and lead times - in coordination with the Logistics team, including defining the ownership handoff between asset strategy (what's needed) and Logistics execution (procurement and stocking).
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation supporting the asset program, including asset standards, classification schemes, and process documentation for audit and operational use.
  • Collaborate closely with site-based Asset & Maintenance Planners, who execute the Asset Management strategy day-to-day at their sites, to ensure the strategy translates cleanly into site-level execution
  • Conduct or oversee periodic asset audits and inventory validations to maintain compliance and audit readiness.
  • Ensure asset records, controls, and documentation meet Finance, Internal Audit, and SOC 2 requirements, maintaining audit-ready evidence for identity, physical access, and asset-related controls in scope.
  • Monitor asset health, utilization, and status trends across the portfolio to identify risk areas and process gaps, and report findings to Central Operations leadership.
  • Define the handoff points between the Asset Management strategy and the downstream Maintenance Strategy.

What you'll have

  • 7 + years of experience in asset management, fixed asset management, or reliability/maintenance programs within data center, industrial, or other critical infrastructure environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) or familiarity with ISO 55000/55001 asset management standards strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
  • Demonstrated experience owning or administering a CMMS platform (e.g., Nuvolo, Maximo, IBM TRIRIGA, or similar)
  • Strong technical writing skills - able to produce clear, audit-ready standards, SOPs, and process documentation
  • Experience developing asset lifecycle, spares/inventory, or maintenance strategies, ideally across a multi-site portfolio
  • Experience conducting FMEA or criticality analysis and applying it to design a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) program
  • Ability to reconcile conflicting inputs - client contractual requirements vs. OEM manufacturer specifications - into a coherent, defensible strategy
  • Strong cross-functional coordination skills; able to work with Procurement, Logistics, Facilities, Standards & Governance, and site operations teams without direct authority

Perks & Compensation

  • Competitive Salary: Base range (commensurate with experience) + bonus + sign-on equity grant.
  • Long-Term Growth: Eligible to participate in Riot's equity incentive programs and share in the success you help build.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan: Incudes a generous company match.
