Block is hiring a Senior Partnerships Manager, Australia in 20244 S&M - Marketing - Square Partnerships — Melbourne, Australia. The overview below is synthesized from the employer posting on block.xyz: factual requirements and scope are preserved, but prose is rewritten with editorial context. Verify details and apply via the employer link.
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions.
The Role
Day-to-day scope for the Senior Partnerships Manager, Australia as described in the posting:
Square is seeking a Senior Partnerships Manager to develop and own a portfolio of Square's strategic partners in Australia. This role reports to the Partnerships Lead, APAC.
The role will involve designing, negotiating, and scaling partnerships for Australia as the primary focus, but with a view to install best practices globally where opportunities present themselves. This is primarily a Business Development role, though deep expertise in partner management is required.
Partners within the Australian portfolio include referral networks, distributors, service providers, technology platforms, and strategic ecosystems where there's mutual benefit to sellers through lead generation, co-sell, co-marketing, and product enablement. You'll use your deep payments knowledge and creativity to land win-win deals across all partner types.
This is a senior individual contributor role at the intersection of business development, growth, product, and go-to-market strategy. You will set the vision for your assigned partner portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day scope for the Senior Partnerships Manager, Australia as described in the posting:
- Sourcing & Negotiation: Evaluate and secure high-impact partners and where required, identify and qualify them; lead executive-level negotiations and close deals that advance our capabilities and growth.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Partner with Product, Operations, Marketing, Sales, and Legal to ensure smooth execution and maximum impact.
- Growth Accountability: Deliver measurable results in lead generation, seller acquisition, and pipeline contribution through strategic partnerships.
- Activation & Scaling: Launch product partnerships with clear GTM plans, co-marketing initiatives, and integrated roadmaps where relevant.
- Executive Relationship Management: Build and sustain C-level relationships with partners, ensuring long-term value creation.
- Measurement & Optimization: Define and track KPIs for partnership success, adjusting strategy as needed to drive continuous growth.
You Have
- 8+ years in the payments space across roles such as business development, strategic partnerships, and/or product partnerships
- Proven track record of structuring, launching and scaling high-impact partnerships, and where required, sourcing such partnerships
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills, with extensive experience working at the executive level.
- Demonstrated ability to connect partnership strategy directly to measurable seller acquisition and revenue outcomes.
- Experience working cross-functionally with global teams and functions, with a proven ability to thrive in this environment by collaborating globally in order to execute locally.
- SaaS, fintech, or payments background strongly preferred. Whilst eCommerce experience will be valued highly, in-store experience is preferred.
