About the role

The Senior Software Engineer will play a critical role in advancing the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) platform. Working on foundational platform capabilities, this role will design and build distributed systems that enable resilient workflow execution while supporting the continued growth of one of Chainlink's flagship products.

Your Impact

Day-to-day scope for the Senior Software Engineer, Chainlink Runtime as described in the posting:

  • Design, build, and operate highly scalable platform services that improve the reliability and performance of the CRE platform.
  • Lead the development of production-grade backend services and APIs that support multiple internal stakeholders and platform consumers.
  • Drive architectural improvements that enable both vertical and horizontal platform scaling.
  • Improve workflow execution durability and platform resilience through thoughtful engineering, rigorous testing, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with engineering teams across the organization to deliver cross-functional platform initiatives from architectural design through production deployment.
  • Strengthen platform ownership by reducing operational silos, improving documentation, and increasing shared knowledge across the engineering organization.
  • Contribute to improving platform reliability through engineering practices aligned with service reliability objectives and measurable operational outcomes.

Required Skills

Experience and skills the team lists as required:

  • Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale production platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency developing production systems in Go (Golang).
  • Experience building production APIs and backend applications serving multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong experience designing and operating distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver reliable, high-quality software through rigorous engineering practices.
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs and solve complex technical problems.
  • Self-driven approach with a high degree of ownership, technical curiosity, and continuous learning.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional engineering environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience defining, measuring, and improving service reliability through SLOs and SLIs.
  • Experience developing software using TypeScript, Solidity, or additional backend technologies.
  • Strong interest in blockchain infrastructure and Web3 technologies.
  • Experience building decentralized applications (dApps).
  • Experience developing financial infrastructure, banking systems, or other mission-critical distributed platforms.
