Engineering Manager, Wallet

USA (Remote)Posted yesterday

Mysten Labs believes that decentralized and open protocols are the bedrock of the internet of value. This is why at Mysten Labs, we are creating foundational infrastructure to accelerate the adoption of decentralized protocols based on blockchain technologies.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead engineers building wallet and DeFi experiences for the Sui ecosystem. This person will support Slush, Mysten Labs' wallet available across web, browser extension, iOS, and Android, and will help shape how users discover, understand, and execute onchain actions.

You will own team health and engineering outcomes for a product where errors can affect user assets and trust. You will partner with product, design, security, protocol, and ecosystem teams to set direction, make sound technical tradeoffs, and ship dependable experiences. You should have direct experience building wallets and be an active, informed DeFi user.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, hire, coach, and retain a team of engineers working across wallet clients, supporting services, and onchain integrations.
  • Set technical direction with senior engineers for account creation and recovery, key management, signing, transaction construction and simulation, dApp connectivity, asset management, swaps, and other DeFi experiences.
  • Create clear ownership and execution plans across web, browser extension, iOS, Android, backend services, SDKs, and protocol dependencies.
  • Raise standards for architecture, testing, release safety, observability, incident response, and post-incident learning in an asset-sensitive product.
  • Partner with product and design to simplify complex onchain workflows without hiding material fees, permissions, risks, or transaction outcomes from users.
  • Work with security and protocol teams to evaluate threats, manage dependencies, and make informed tradeoffs between usability, decentralization, privacy, and protection of user assets.
  • Use data, user research, support feedback, and ecosystem context to prioritize work and measure product and engineering outcomes.

Candidate Profile & Mindset

  • Experience managing and developing software engineers, including senior engineers, in a high-ownership product environment.
  • Direct experience shipping production blockchain wallet functionality. You understand self-custody, private-key security, signing, recovery, transaction lifecycle, chain and RPC failure modes, and wallet-to-dApp interaction patterns.
  • Hands-on DeFi fluency. You regularly use onchain products and can reason about liquidity, routing, slippage, staking, lending, bridges, protocol and smart-contract risk, and the user protections required for financial transactions.
  • Strong systems judgment across client applications, backend services, APIs or SDKs, distributed dependencies, monitoring, and operational response.
  • A record of setting direction in ambiguous environments, improving execution, and delivering reliable products across multiple platforms or surfaces.
  • Ability to partner closely with product, design, security, and senior technical leaders while maintaining clear engineering accountability.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience integrating decentralized exchanges, aggregators, bridges, staking, lending, or fiat on- and off-ramps into a wallet.
  • Familiarity with Sui, Move, programmable transaction blocks, zkLogin, Wallet Standard, or another modern smart-contract platform.
  • Experience leading products through rapid growth, high transaction volume, security review, or asset-impacting incidents.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, which may include verification of employment history, education credentials, criminal history, and other relevant information.
