The Software Platform team accelerates developer velocity and increases system reliability by building the foundational platforms and tools that power Robinhood engineering. Within this group, the Kubernetes Compute team focuses on building and operating a highly available, scalable Kubernetes-powered container platform.

As a Senior Software Developer, you will focus heavily on building, operating, and expanding our container provisioning platforms. You will be responsible for designing resilient container infrastructure and contributing to our technical migration to Amazon EKS to improve platform reliability.

This role is based in our Toronto office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

What you'll do

Day-to-day scope for the Senior Software Developer, Kubernetes Compute as described in the posting:

  • Design, build, and operate scalable container infrastructure using Kubernetes to support high-throughput financial applications.
  • Contribute to the technical execution of migrating core workloads to Amazon EKS while ensuring zero-downtime deployments.
  • Optimize container lifecycle management, networking infrastructure, and cluster provisioning APIs for multi-region reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across Robinhood to integrate core platform capabilities like service mesh, authentication, and load balancing.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks in production environments and implement automated solutions to enhance platform availability.

What you bring

  • Strong proficiency with Kubernetes control plane and data plane components, including container lifecycle management.
  • Experience deploying, debugging, and managing large-scale distributed systems or containerized platforms in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS services and managed container environments like Amazon EKS.
  • Knowledge of container networking concepts, cluster security protocols, and open-source cloud-native tools.
  • Ability to plan and execute technical projects systematically while providing technical guidance to team members.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed.

$166,000—$195,000 CAD
