Benjamin Bathgate is WeirFoulds LLP's Chair of the Commercial Litigation Group and the Co-Chair of the Blockchain and Digital Assets Group. Ben is top ranked (Band 1) in the Chambers FinTech Guide "Crypto-Asset Disputes - Canada" category. He has been lead counsel in a number of precedent-setting cryptocurrency cases and injunctions. Ben successfully obtained the first reported Anton Piller Order (Civil Search and Seizure) on cryptocurrency in Canada, a cross-border case that was the feature story on CBC's The Fifth Estate and in Bloomberg Businessweek.
He speaks, teaches and consults regularly on digital asset fraud matters, and has interviewed with leading publications in the field including The Globe and Mail, CoinDesk, CoinDesk TV, Canadian Lawyer, Yahoo Finance, Bloomberg Law and Bloomberg Business.
