Manager, Software Engineering (Product)
The Tooling team builds the customer-facing platform tooling that defines how millions of users experience Gemini — onboarding, compliance, customer support, and the ad hoc projects that keep the customer journey smooth from first touch onward. In this role, you'll lead a team of engineers working across backend, web, and mobile: helping them define roadmaps, plans, and goals, helping them achieve those goals, and guiding each team member to grow their career at Gemini.

This role is required to be in person twice a week at our New York City, NY office.

- Stay deeply involved in the team's system architecture — guiding new systems and integrations, and using prior design experience to identify pitfalls in scaling, performance, and availability across onboarding, compliance (KYC/identity), and customer support workflows serving millions of users.
- Raise the bar on engineering practices through high-quality code review feedback, design reviews, testing, and CI/CD, and help the team adopt and advance our AI coding tools and agentic development pipeline.
- Drive performance for your team and hold them accountable to internally and externally imposed deadlines and targets.
- Make hiring plans and hiring decisions.
- Give frequent feedback and coaching, coordinating with people around the company to get a full picture of your team's performance.
- Provide a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for your team to execute on its priorities and evolve its capabilities over time.
- Communicate at all levels, from senior leaders to individual contributors, across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Adapt the team's plans and goals to changing realities in a fast-moving industry.
- Effectively resolve ambiguity, helping the team analyze complex requirements and break initiatives into tasks.
- Own the team's output, taking responsibility for everyone's performance.
- Quickly ramp up on relevant industry and competitive trends.
