They use design systems to tell compelling stories to a variety of audiences, and are well-versed at expanding, evolving, defining, and documenting flexible design systems that achieve bar-raising quality and consistency for the brand at scale.
Responsibilities
Day-to-day scope for the Art Director as described in the posting:
- Ideate, design, and produce world-class design solutions—both static and motion—across a range of deliverables including presentations, posters, brand art, and signage.
- Steward designers through large-scale projects, providing art direction and ongoing guidance on creative strategy, execution, and localization.
- Work across a wide variety of mediums (physical, digital, and everything in between) to create immersive storytelling and creative content that brings Stripe's brand and product stories to life.
- Bring design concepts to life through storyboarding, comps, and creative presentations, iterating based on stakeholder feedback and internal testing.
- Collaborate with copywriters, static and motion designers, marketers, and ad operations to develop visionary concepts that engage a global audience.
- Mentor designers in best practices and ideation, fostering an environment where everyone learns and grows.
- Present ideas in a clear, focused way that builds consensus within the team and with stakeholders.
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements through automation and AI integration to enhance design quality and efficiency.
Requirements

- 6–10 years of relevant design and art direction experience, with a focus on technical or product-driven companies.
- Strong track record of independently delivering high-quality work and influencing the output of other designers and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Figma, Canva, and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (motion and statics).
- Experience managing or mentoring a team of designers.
- Ability to express and communicate a brand through distinct graphics, patterns, motion, interaction, and experiences.
- A hands-on maker with the skills to effectively communicate concepts, direction, and decisions to teams and external partners.
- Ability to balance speed and quality, consistently delivering challenging, interesting, and pixel-perfect work.
