We're Trezor, the company that invented the world's first hardware wallet and a leading name in crypto security. Founded in 2013 and still 100% self-owned, we build open-source products that help more than two million people across 200+ countries secure their digital assets. As a Crypto Backend Engineer, you'll work on the infrastructure connecting Trezor Suite to blockchain networks and crypto data services - powering everything from account discovery and transaction history to fee estimation, token metadata, and transaction broadcasting.
You'll build services that stay reliable even when blockchain nodes, RPC providers, or third-party APIs don't. You'll own your work end to end, influence architecture and observability, and help shape the long-term direction of Trezor's blockchain infrastructure.
You don't need to know every blockchain we support on day one. What matters is your ability to understand unfamiliar systems, investigate how they behave under failure, and turn that knowledge into reliable production software.
If this sounds like the kind of infrastructure you'd like to own, keep reading.
What You'll Be Working On
- Blockchain connectivity - building and improving reliable communication with nodes, RPC providers, explorers, and indexers across UTXO and account-based networks
- Blockbook development & maintenance - maintaining and actively developing Blockbook, an open-source blockchain indexer created by Trezor and used by major RPC providers such as QuickNode and NOWNodes
- Backend services - developing services for fiat rates, token and coin metadata, fees, and other crypto data used throughout Trezor Suite
- Third-party integrations - integrating and evaluating providers such as QuickNode while designing sensible caching, fallback, and routing strategies
- Reliability at scale - improving monitoring, logging, alerting, request optimization, and incident detection so users barely notice provider failures
- Architecture and ownership - contributing to technical decisions, architecture reviews, and infrastructure planning
- Security and collaboration - working closely with DevOps, Security, and product engineering teams to operate dependable and secure services
Candidate Profile & Mindset
- You have production experience building backend services in TypeScript/Node.js or Go
- Experience designing, operating, and debugging APIs or distributed services
- Solid knowledge of SQL databases, preferably PostgreSQL, and practical data modelling
- Ability to investigate failures across application, network, database, and third-party service boundaries
- Understanding of production observability, including metrics, logs, tracing, and alerting
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make pragmatic technical decisions
- Good written and spoken English
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with blockchain nodes, RPC APIs, indexers, explorers, or other crypto infrastructure
